Best SEO Agencies in Toronto (2026)

Best SEO Agencies in Toronto banner featuring laptop analytics dashboard and CN Tower city skyline.

Toronto has more agencies selling SEO services in Toronto than almost any city in North America, and picking between them is genuinely hard. Every one of them ranks first for their own name, every one of them has a case study with a big green arrow, and almost none of them publish what they charge.

This list is our attempt at something more useful. We looked at twelve Toronto agencies that consistently show up in local search, on review platforms, and in client referrals, and we broke down what each one is actually good at, who they fit, and where they fall short. Because the category has split in two, we paid particular attention to how each firm handles the two disciplines that matter most in 2026: local SEO that wins the Map Pack, and AI search SEO that gets a business cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude.

Full disclosure before you read further: we are Mehrana Agency, and we are number one on this list. We think we have earned it and we explain why below. We have also given every other agency here a fair write-up, including several we would happily refer work to. Read the methodology, then judge for yourself.

How We Ranked the Best SEO Agencies in Toronto

We scored each agency on five things:

Verifiable results. Public case studies with real numbers, not vague claims about growth.

Contract terms. Whether they lock clients into twelve month agreements or work month to month.

Reporting transparency. Whether clients can see their own data live, or wait for a monthly PDF.

AI search readiness. Whether the agency has actually adapted to a search landscape where a growing share of buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Claude before they ever open Google.

Fit for local businesses. Whether the agency is set up for a Toronto trades company or a clinic, or built for enterprise budgets.

That fourth point is the one that separated the list most sharply in 2026. Most Toronto agencies still sell 2019 SEO. A handful have rebuilt around answer engines. That difference is going to compound fast.

1. Mehrana Agency

Best for: Local businesses in Toronto and the GTA that want Map Pack rankings, AI search citations, and a phone that actually gets answered, all from one team.

We have been doing this in Toronto since 2012, first as Studio Namad and since 2021 as Mehrana Marketing. Fourteen years, over 2,000 projects, more than 700 clients, and a 5.0 rating on Google. Our office is at 120 Eglinton Ave E in midtown, and we run a second shift out of Tehran, which means work moves on your site while Toronto sleeps.

Here is what actually makes us different.

We rebuilt the agency around AI search in 2024. Search stopped being one destination. Your customers now ask an assistant first and click second. We run Answer Engine Optimization, Generative Engine Optimization, and LLM SEO as core services, not as an upsell tacked onto a normal SEO retainer. That means entity consistency across your citations, structured data that assistants can parse, content built to be quoted rather than skimmed, and the off-site sources ChatGPT and Perplexity actually pull from. We track which assistants cite you and how often, and it is a line item in your dashboard.

Every client gets an AI Receptionist. This is the part most agencies do not do at all. SEO is only worth what it converts, and the biggest leak in local business marketing is not rankings, it is unanswered calls. Our AI Receptionist answers every call, qualifies the lead, books it straight into your calendar, and follows up if the caller drops. It works nights, weekends, and while you are on a job site. You spend money to make the phone ring, so the phone should get answered. We activate it alongside your SEO campaign rather than selling it separately.

Every client gets Patrick OS. Patrick OS is our client dashboard, thirty-two internal apps in one login. Live rank tracking, Google Business Profile control, review management, citation status, a leads inbox, AI search visibility, site performance, and direct chat with your strategist. Not a monthly PDF. Not a Looker Studio screenshot. Your real numbers, updated daily, in an interface you own access to. If we are not performing, you will see it before we tell you.

No twelve month contracts. Every engagement is month to month with seven days notice. Our Lead Foundation phase ships a custom coded site in thirty business days or you get $500 back. Local Authority adds one new service area per month with five to eight quality Canadian backlinks, no PBNs. Authority Plus ships eight to ten content pages and ten press placements a month, and if anything on the list is missing that month refunds in full.

Results we can show you. SEP Immigration grew organic traffic 3,281 percent with 153 keywords in the top three. Eco Star Home Services saw an 806.5 percent lift in Google clicks. Quick Fit Parts increased leads 183 percent and online orders 52 percent. All three are written up in full on our case studies page with the timeline and the work behind them.

Where we are not the right fit: we do not do enterprise programmatic media buying, and we are not the cheapest option in this city. If you want a $299 a month package, several agencies below will happily sell you one.

2. Search Engine People (SEP)

Best for: Established businesses that want a large full service team with two and a half decades of history.

One of the oldest names in Canadian search. SEP runs teams across Toronto, the GTA, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver, covering SEO, PPC, creative, CRO, content, social, display, video and programmatic, and states it has invested more than $2 million into its own technology stack. Public listings put their client history at over 2,500 businesses with engagements starting around $1,000.

Strong technical depth and a genuinely broad service menu. The trade off is what you would expect from an agency at that scale: you are one account among many, and small local businesses can find the process heavier than they need.

3. dNovo Group

Best for: Law firms, medical practices, and home service companies that want a concierge style relationship.

The most credible direct competitor on this list when it comes to AI search. dNovo runs offices in Toronto, Ottawa and Calgary, reports over 300 five star reviews, a 97 percent client retention rate, and more than 500 client engagements, and holds Google Partner, Semrush Certified Agency and Otterly.AI partner status.

They have moved earlier than most Toronto agencies on answer engine work and their vertical expertise in legal and medical is real. If you are a law firm and we are not the right fit, they are the first place we would point you.

4. Local SEO Search

Best for: Small and medium Canadian businesses that want a straightforward local package.

Canadian owned, over ten years in the market, and by their own count they have worked with more than 10,000 small businesses. They run a five step process and offer a la carte pricing, which is unusual and useful if you only need one or two pieces rather than a full retainer.

Very well established in the local space. Less depth on the technical and AI search side than the agencies above.

5. BlueHat Marketing

Best for: Businesses wanting local, enterprise, international and hybrid SEO from one shop.

BlueHat covers SEO, PPC, social and web design, reports a 93 percent client retention rate and over 1,150 clients worldwide, and has worked with more than 5,000 businesses. Their consulting and audit work is a genuine strength.

6. Loopex Digital

Best for: Businesses that want detailed, hands on local optimization work.

Founded in 2018, over 540 completed projects and a 98 percent client retention rate. Their local work goes granular, down to Google Business Profile optimization and neighbourhood level keyword targeting, and they are a good fit for law firms, medical practices and real estate. Newer than most on this list, but the retention number speaks for itself.

7. BrandLume

Best for: Businesses that want published pricing and no long term commitment.

BrandLume serves roughly 6,400 clients and over 400 agencies globally, and its whole model is built on up front wholesale pricing with no long term contracts. The price transparency is genuinely refreshing in this industry. The trade off is volume: with that many accounts, strategy tends to be productized rather than tailored.

8. MacRAE's Marketing

Best for: Businesses that value institutional longevity.

Founded in 1999, now a team of 70 plus, and they report having helped over 20,000 businesses across North America improve rankings and generate leads. Roots in traditional directory marketing, now focused on SEO, web development and digital advertising.

9. Let's Get Optimized

Best for: Multi city Canadian businesses.

Founded in Montreal with offices in Toronto, Halifax, Calgary and Oshawa. Ontario clients cite their work in SEO, web redesign and local marketing across legal, manufacturing and storage, and single out project management and responsiveness.

Good option if you need coverage across several Canadian markets at once.

10. Awkward Media

Best for: Businesses that want a guarantee attached to the engagement.

A 4.9 star rating across 87 plus reviews, results across more than 50 verticals, and a guarantee structure that includes a full refund if measurable improvement does not arrive within a set window.

Aggressive positioning and aggressive promises. Read the guarantee terms carefully, because the details matter more than the headline.

How to actually choose an SEO agency in Toronto

Five questions worth asking on every call.

Will you show me a client dashboard, live, right now? Any agency confident in its work can show you a real account with the client name redacted. If the answer is a sample PDF, ask why.

What happens in month one? Vague answers mean no process. You should hear specific deliverables: technical audit, Google Business Profile audit, citation cleanup, keyword mapping.

How do you handle AI search? If the answer is a version of "we optimize for Google and that covers it," they have not adapted. A growing share of your buyers are asking an assistant before they ever run a search. Getting cited there is a different discipline with different inputs.

What is the contract term and the exit? Twelve month lock ins exist to protect the agency, not you. Month to month terms mean the agency has to keep earning the relationship.

Who actually does the work? In Toronto, plenty of agencies sell locally and execute offshore with no oversight. That is not automatically bad. Hidden is bad. Ask directly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SEO cost in Toronto in 2026? Most credible Toronto agencies fall between $1,500 and $6,000 a month for local SEO, depending on the competitiveness of your category and how many service areas you are targeting. Below roughly $1,000 a month you are typically buying reporting rather than work. Above $10,000 you are usually paying for enterprise scope you may not need.

How long does it take to rank in the Google Map Pack? Most local businesses see movement in the first 30 to 60 days and meaningful Map Pack gains by month three. Anyone promising page one in two weeks is either buying it with ads or lying.

What is the difference between Local SEO and AI Search SEO? Local SEO gets you into Google's Map Pack and organic results. AI Search SEO, also called Answer Engine Optimization, gets your business cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. They share some foundations, like entity consistency and structured data, but the content and off site work differ. Most local businesses in 2026 should be running both.

Should I hire a Toronto agency or work with one remotely? For local SEO, local knowledge matters more than people expect. Neighbourhood search behaviour, competitive density by postal code, and which Canadian directories carry weight are all things a remote agency learns slowly and a Toronto agency already knows.

Do SEO agencies guarantee rankings? Nobody can ethically guarantee a specific ranking, because nobody controls the algorithm. What a good agency can guarantee is deliverables: what ships, when, and what happens if it does not.
